About this Spot
Erries Right is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia. Known for its right-hand waves, this spot features a rocky bottom and can be surfed at all tides. The waves here are typically fast and hollow, offering a thrilling ride for intermediate surfers. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, providing ample opportunity for a satisfying surf session. Erries Right is often uncrowded, giving you plenty of space to enjoy the surf without the hustle of a busy lineup. Access to the spot is through the Ulladulla campsite, down a broken cliff path with a swing rope, and involves a long paddle of over 20 minutes or the option of arriving by boat. The spot is nicknamed ‘Erries’ due to the eerie feeling of being like shark bait in the harbor, with returning fishing trailers gutting fish nearby. It is important to keep catching waves to take your mind off the potential presence of sharks. Erries Right provides both left and right waves, with good A-frame peaks and a punchy take-off, followed by a hollow inside section that runs fast for about 80 meters before dropping into deep water. Sometimes, there is a hollow left on the take-off. Nearby surf spots include Flat Rock, Golf Course Reef, Mollymook Reef, Racecourse Reef, and Bannisters Point. When planning your surf session, be sure to check the surf forecast and report, and consider using a map or webcam to assess the conditions. Remember to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots.
